in service right now. >> thank you so much for joining us this morning. that is the latest. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you. police are investigating a shooting involving one of their own. >> yesterday morning a man was shot by police after they say he tried to grab an officer's weapon. police were called to the kings point square shopping center for a report of a suspicious man. police encountered the suspect who had parked his suv outside one of the stores. he attacked the first officer who arrived on the scene. >> there was a struggle over the officer's weapon, at which time a second officer pulled up to the scene, observed what was going on, and shot the suspect in the chest two times the crux of the officers involved are on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. the suspect is in stable condition at shock trauma. >> city police have made an arrest in connection with a home invasion last month. lavar rich was taken into custody on monday on fairfax road in northwest baltimore. police were able to recover the numerous weapons that were re

long. >> kim dacey joins us with more details. good morning. >> crews have been out all night and they remain on the scene this morning trying to fix the problem. about 40 customers have already had their power restored. the rest will have their power on later today. something went wrong with an underground power cable. some transformers blew. video was shot of the fire. it was a big mess that left dozens of restaurants without power. they reached for flashlights and candles. restaurants and needed to salvage a food. several hundred pounds of dry ice was broadened to keep the food cool. there were shot down on what should have been a busy sunday. >> it is always good when there is football going on. it is a big loss. tens of thousands of dollars. >> b.g.e. is still investigating what caused that cable to blow. most of their customers should have their power back on bite this afternoon. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> 3 townhomes were damaged after a fire that happened just after 4:00 a.m. yesterday morning. fire officials say it's part in a home that was being renovated. it the

30s and jessamy by about 1300 votes. jennifer franciotti joins us live with more. we thought this was all over. >> we sure did. this is a prime example of how every vote counts. neither camp is willing to can see until all of the absentee ballots have been counted. it still took the board of elections nearly a full day to release complete returns. the race between bernstein and jessamy is too close to call. 3% has been lost in limbo. they forgot to turn and memory cards from 82 voting machines. those cards have been tracked down. there is nothing suspicious or unusual about the slope accounting. >> when you have an election, it is not uncommon to be at 100% within 24 hours. >> now here it is two days after the race and there is concern about the absentee ballots. the counting will begin this morning. we could have the results by this evening. who knows? i could be here tomorrow morning. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> the big fight in washington is about politics. >> the president wants to cut taxes for the middle class. withamara jordan's us live more details -- kat

news. >> the state board of elections is investigating allegations that a candidate used a fake name. rebecca lynn nelson is running as a democrat. she said she did what she was told to do. she filled out a form saying they printer rebecca weir nelson rather than her real name. david collins wanted to know more. >> you were banking on the family's name recognition. >> no, i'm banking on the fact that people know my family's character and that we are conservative and that we're concerned about the environment. >> the state is investigating formal complaints that she did not provide written statements, two, two that she was known in the economy as rebecca weir nelson. we will have more on our website. just click on local news. this man was reportedly ordered to volunteer at an animal shelter after being charged with animal abuse. he is accused of beating a dog with a pipe. the dog was severely injured and eventually euthanized. prosecutors said he needed to perform 50 hours of community service. the spca is upset and admits there were never consulted about the recommendation. >> maryla
